September Rafting Event

The September Rafting Event hit the trifecta. 3 years in a row we have successfully staged a Sancheong expedition in the first week of September. Almost all members were in attendance and mobs of wives, kids and guests. Beer was drunk, goat was eaten, rafting and swimming got done, weather was great. Looking forward to next year already.

July Meeting

Long time no post. The outside grillfest was canned due to the predicted rains that never eventuated. We started outside and continued on inside with REAL sausages (wurst). For the first time in memory, every member made it to the meeting. You can see in the pics that we filled that little Woodhouse out. A good time was had by all (as usual).

AMSC Family Shooting Event 2008-11-08

The AMSC Family Shooting Event was a resounding success and the after-event-dinner even more so. There has rarely been a time in history when clay targets have felt so safe. The less said about everyone's scores, possibly the better. But it was a fun day, and it was (I believe) the first time in our history when the whole family has been invited to the meeting at the Woodhouse. I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was one of the most fun meetings in recent memory. Cheers to all the wives for being such good sports and having a go at the guns, beef and beer. (I feel like I am in Texas)

September Rafting Event

Sorry for the late update, now my schedule has cleared up a bit I will post the photos from the rafting event. Unfortunately half of the team had to bail on the rafting, which was postponed until Sunday morning, to continue on their motorcycle tour. But from what I hear, a good time was had by all even in the abscence of the required volume of water.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU, TOO, TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE AMSC FROM ALL MEMBERS OF THE SOJU'D HOJUS MOTORCYCLE TOUR BRIGADE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMPANY, YOUR CONTINUED FRIENDSHIP AND A BIG THANK YOU FOR THE AMSC JACKETS. (Bill will be especially thankful when he lands in Melbourne tomorrow and it is only 12 degrees).

(Not being there does not mean that yuou won't be elected to a position, just the opposite in fact!)

Planned Muju Resort Trip

Hello all Aliens,

Due to a lack of solid information on the conditions of the ski resort "Muju" a friend and I decided to drive there to see it with our own eyes yesterday. there isn't any snow anywhere on the ground anywhere apart from the ski slopes (artificial) and even that is pretty icy. If you ask at the commercial places, they are telling you that the ski season will close on the 15th of march. But if you ask at the tourism information centre, they will tell you because of the warm weather it is more likely to be the 28th of February. skiing on trhe 3rd or 4th of March is going to be a 'wait and see' scenario and it isnt going to be Zermat or Saint Anton, even if there is some snow on the ground it will be pretty ho-hum.

that said, we decided as a group to make the journey regardless of the ski conditions so i looked around for some other activities to fill up a schedule. there are
1) an outdoor hot spring
2) hikes along the tops of the mountains all year round
3) the gondolas will still be running regardless of the snow, for the hikers
4) an excellent restaurant
5) nice scenery
6) good beers
7) singing room
8) still a possibility of skiing, but not a probability
9) about a dozen brochures for stuff that i havent even looked at yet

due to the likelyhood of not being able to ski, i propose a more comfortable trip than was previously planned. (not a 4am start). i propose leaving changwon at about 9am saturday 3rd of march and arriving back in changwon about 3 or 4pm sunday afternoon. (without traffic jams it took us 2 hours and 40 minutes from gimhae to Muju). schedule of activities can be arranged closer to the day when we are more aware of the weather conditions.

the fantastic hotel arrangement is pricey, but really really cool. it is W150 000 for a double and W180 000 for a twin, all with a 10% discount for a group booking, and i think we can get it cheaper if the ski season has officially finished.

please let me know a.s.a.p if you are interested as i wont organise transport until i have final and definite numbers.
check out the website for photos (i forgot my camera and took them with my mobile phone, so don't get hung up on the lack of quality)
